Do you have a multitouch trackpad or a Macbook, then you might be using  pinch-to-zoom to zoom in and out of web pages in your browser. But, Firefox 4 disabled them by default. But you can get them back.

Use Pinch-to-Zoom Feature in Firefox 4

Firefox 4 disabled the two finger pinch/zoom gestures on a Mac and multi-touch touchpad. Here is how to make pinch/zoom work again.

Step 1: type about:config in your address bar and press Enter.

Step 2: Type pinch in the search bar to bring up the pinch-to-zoom gesture commands which are disabled by default.

Step 3: Find the following commands and double-click to bring up a dialog box where you have to enter the values mentioned below.

Command

Value

browser.gesture.pinch.in cmd_fullZoomReduce
browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift cmd_fullZoomReset
browser.gesture.pinch.out cmd_fullZoomEnlarge
browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift cmd_fullZoomReset
Here is an example below…

You can also cycle through tabs with a twist rotate gesture…

Command

Value

browser.gesture.twist.left Browser:PrevTab
browser.gesture.twist.right Browser:NextTab

Once that’s done, the pinch and zoom gestures along with twist rotate tab switching controls should work in Firefox 4.
